Rizhao City is beside sea and mountain,
with a long history and abundant natural
and cultural resources. It is famous for
its blue sky, blue sea, and golden sand
beach. Combined with Qingdao, Taian,
Qufu, it has formed ¡§the Culture Tourism
Circle of Shandong¡¨, which together with
the Xian-Dunhuang-Tulufan ¡§Silk Road
Culture¡¨, constitute the land bridge
tourism belt.

km, and golden sand beach is
as long as 64 km. Here the

Rizhao is one
of the cradles of Chinese Civilization
with a long history and brilliant
culture. There are some famous historic
relics including Lingyanghe, Liangcheng,
Donghaiyu and Yaowangcheng. All these
relics belong to Dawenkou Culture or
Longshan Culture. According to the
"Brief Guide of World History "published
by British Oxford University, Liangcheng
Town was the earliest city in Asia
between 3500 B. C. and 2000 B. C. The
pictograph inscribed on the earthenware
excavated in Ju County of Rizhao City is
more than 4800 years old. The pictograph
was proved to be the earliest pictograph
in China, which is over 1000 years
earlier than Oracle. Rizhao black
pottery with the history of 5000 years
is the treasure of Chinese Civilization.
Rizhao is one of the three famous towns
of modern Chinese folk paintings. The
farmers' paintings are very popular both
home and abroad. Mount Fulai has a 3,500-year-old ancient
ginkgo tree, an ancient Buddhist Temple
of Jing Dynasty,
Temple and Hut of Sui
Tang Dynasty (Dinglin Temple), in which
the "Confucian Classics Checking Tower"
is where Mr. Liu Xie, author of
"litterateur Feeling Engraved Dragon",
stayed in his late years. Mount Wulian
is a provincial scenic site. When the
famous literati Sushi in Song Dynasty
assumed the senior official in Mizhou,
he praised the mount as queer and
beautiful as Mount Yandang, Mount
Jiuxian is 697 meters above sea level,
and 55 square kilometers around. There
is the famous ¡§Sunbin College¡¨ on the
mount. When spring comes, there is wild
azalea everywhere. Within the boundary, the Great Wall of Ji
Dynasty, the relic of Yaowang Castle,
the relic of Linyanghe, the Ancient Town
of Ju State, Stele on the Sea, Mount
Lumu etc. are all the good resorts for
history study. |
